Keegan Powell Comes to Life in “In Kincardine”

Toronto-based songwriter and performing artist Keegan Powell began his journey writing and recording in Teenage Kicks as the guitarist on their debut album Spoils Of Youth. He went on to compose songs for Chastity on Death Lust, Home Made Satan, and forthcoming Suffer Summer. The album features production credits from Matt Snell (Dua Lipa), Peter Van Helvoort (The Glorious Sons), Dylan Frankland (Tallies), and Phil Jones (from Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers).

As a solo musician, he will release Previous Pain on May 11th, 2022. “The album title originally derived from a joke (as most good things in life do), but ended up feeling like the only title I could imagine for these songs,” he shares about the collection.

Ethereal and romantic, “In Kincardine” is his latest single, named after a beach town northwest of Toronto. “I wanted to capture the mood I was in when the song came to me, guitar in hand: a quiet summer night with all the stars to see, sitting around a fire, nowhere to go, nowhere to be. To just be.”
