Orson Wilds Opens the Door on “Cellar”

Orson Wilds is an indie rock band from Toronto formed in 2019.

“I’ll be your cellar, if you’re looking for somewhere to run.” A double entendre for ‘seller,’ their new single “Cellar” responds to friends succumbing to addiction. Grammy nominee Will Yip and Grammy winners Tom Lord Alge and Emily Lazar help deliver Orson Wilds’ trademark sound with elements of punk, folk and rock to create something that is both intimate and expansive. At first, their songs are uplifting, but upon closer listen, a deep melancholy runs through them.

As a live act, Orson Wilds can range from six to nine members including trumpet, saxophone and violin. The two lead singers offer a contrasting sound, with Eric Reid’s passionate and raw vocals and Brianna Bordhin’s smoother softer tones, to create something instantly recognizable as their own. The songs often break into gang vocal sing-along choruses that are rounded out by the band.
