Star Goes Nova Flies High with  “Moonlight Beat with Sonic Butterfly”; Out Today!

Debuting today, Star Goes Nova returns with her new electronic and ambient song “Moonlight Beat with Sonic Butterfly.” She spins a sonic tale of an astronaut discovering an ancient castle on a distant moon in collaboration with Sonic Butterfly, a 26 string acoustic, chromatic, long-string harp designed and played by Andrea Brook. The strings are at minimum 60ft long and often strung over 200 feet long, and span out over the audience, transforming indoor and outdoor theaters, buildings, and natural environments into a stunning immersive musical instrument. “It’s like being inside YoYo Ma’s cello,” says Star Goes Nova.

The song is utterly vibrant as she blends Sonic Butterfly’s rare medieval string sound and her 115 year old grand piano creating futuristic rhythms, cinematic synths, and novel musical notes.

“Feel epic! Feel majestic! Take a moonlit walk through a castle with the haunting sounds of an ancient instrument in a future galaxy,” shares Star Goes Nova.

Like always, her music masterfully captures a sense of vastness with the fantasy she creates. The use of the harp is what gives “Moonlight Beat with Sonic Butterfly” a feeling of exploration. She successfully immerses you within her world with her power of musical storytelling.

The artist shares:

“I had the honor of reaching deep into some sorcery to blend Sonic Butterfly’s rare medieval sounding long stringed harp with my 115 year old grand piano. Sonic Butterfly is a 26 string acoustic, long-string harp with strings minimum 60ft long and often strung over 200 feet long, and span out over the audience, transforming indoor and outdoor theaters, buildings, and natural environments into a stunning immersive musical instrument. “It’s like being inside YoYo Ma’s cello.” The technique of melding the unique giant harp into “Moonlight Beat” was an epic feat in itself with Grammy winning producer John Baffa tracking 16 microphones, mathematically distanced to achieve authentic echo reverberations down the length of 60 foot harp strings. I was going for a gorgeous piano, futuristic electronica and an epic party in an ancient castle on a distant moon! This collaboration of Sonic Butterfly and Star Goes Nova just performed at the FASMA Festival in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico with violinist Chris Murphy and celebrated local musician and visual artist Tomas Joaquin Burkey Marambio.”
